My fiance is in the army for transition and shortly AIT followed by her duty station in late march. So getting to the question is if I join the guard can i get stationed near her? She heard from someone that we cant be stationed more than 50 miles apart (unless its over seas deployment) but even if it is overseas do I have the option to follow?

Is she in the regular Army and your in the Guard? Then it will be up to you to find a unit near where she will be stationed. Being that you guys are not married then you really don't get much say about it. Even if you do get married there will always be the chance you can be seperated for long periods of time. I personally knew a female stationed in North Carolina while her husband was stationed in California.

The Army Married Couples Program is specifically for regular army soldiers married to other married soldiers. As a Guardsman you can live wherever you want as long as you meet your Guard obligations to drill, etc. Additionally, if a couple is enrolled in the program, it's not a guarantee to be stationed together or near one another. Valid requirements for both soldiers' MOS and grade must be available. Lastly, soldiers must request to enroll in this program. It's not automatic. Chapter 5 of AR 614-200 has the details.

I thought the army frowned upon cheating on your spouse. I didnt know there was a program where you can marry a soldier who is already married. :)

I jacked that up so much that I am not even going to edit it. I just need to take the hit. What I meant to say was regular army soldiers married to other regular army soldiers.

Now if you want info on the Army polygamist program...
