Hey,

I read in Runners World that people who drink four or more cups of coffee a day have better pulmonary function than those who rarely drink coffee. Have anyone heard about this before?

If that's the case then maybe they will allow coffee during BCT. lol

I drink at least 6 cups a day and can't run hardly at all.

I wish coffee made running easier; I would be superman by now.

***ditching her feather headdress, then donning her **** hat***

The caffeine, not necessarily the coffee, is a bronchodilator so pulmonary function can, in theory, improve. However, caffeine is also a vasoconstrictor so one would have to be in tremendous cardiovascular shape in order to take advantage of that benefit. For the average person, the vasoconstriction and subsequent increased heart rate, would actually inhibit running performance for most. Just FYI, excessive caffeine consuption can actually cause heart palpitations and arrythmias. It's probably not cool to drop dead on a run because you drank too much coffee.

On that note... I'm gonna drink my Monster shot and go for a run...... J/k. ;)

The same things happen if you were to try running on cocaine or an amphetamine... still think coffee is a good idea? lol :p

Funny you mention that because I was watching this show called Hooked: illegal drugs and how they got that way and they were saying that when drugs were orginally being regulated and outlawed caffinee was actually on the list to be made illegal Obviously it never did but I thought that was interesting.

They do allow it. Our company had to always have Gatorade availble for us. Unfortunately, all the PFTs and DS' drank it before we got any. When we did get it, it was watered down.
