I was consider joining the National Guard earlier this year and was to the point of going back for a the second physical. I ended up having family related personal issues and was not able to join. I turned 42 on March 2, 2009. I know the max age to join is 42. Here's my question: Is there any was to get some sort of exception to join now that I'm 43? Thanks in advance for any information.

The max age is now 35 and I believe waivers for age are only being taken for officers.

Sorry to inform you there is no way you can enlist or go officer. Unless you have prior service.

I feel your pain. I'm 32, but will probably be 36 by the time my waiver is processed.

Thank for everyone's information. Can anyone clarify something for me. I checked the site approximately 4 or 5 week ago and had noticed that the max age had been dropped to 35. When I was looking around on the site yesterday under the FAQ section "What do I need to qualify?" is shows the max age at 42. Anyone have and reason for that? Thanks

The current max age to enlist is 35, the currenent max age to commission is 42. This may have been what you have read.

Only for States that are below a certain percentage of strength. I posted the list of States in a different message.

Sgt I believe your right that some states have bumped the age back up. It all depends on whether or not the state is making their enlistment numbers or not.

Does anyone know if Florida was one of the states that might have raised the age to 42?
