View Full Version : Confused about assigned unit...
My paperwork says that my assigned unit is the one in my hometown, but I just found out that I'll be doing drills in a town that's, like, a good 80+ miles away. How'd that happen? I'll be doing RSP until I go to AIT, since I'm Split Op...could that be it? RSP soldiers don't get to do drill at their assigned unit until they complete all training?
I don't have a license and have no dependable transportation. I guess my mother could take me, but then we'd have to drive home on Saturday night and back to the unit Sunday morning, right? That sucks really bad...:(

Ouch. Yeah, I live in Greensboro. Roxboro is along way away. Is this for RSP? I know that sometimes for RSP you have to go other places but once you finish AIT then you would be back in your unit that was printed on the contract. I think this is because there aren't many RSP units around. I used to live in Wilmington and I was thinking of joining the Guard so I went to RSP one weekend as a guest. We had to drive to Wallace (35 miles). I didn't understand that either. In that situation, the recruiters in Wilmington ran RSP so they took vans to Wallace. Nobody had to drive if they didn't want to.

I am in Wilson and my son drilled in Morrisville before he left for BCT. Although he drove, the recruiter told me if he ever needed a ride a recruiter would pick him up and bring him home.
