Ok, I have heard from alot of people that it is really easy to sneak your cell phones into basic training and that it took alot of stress off of you to be able to talk to the girlfriend.
The way I heard people did it was by either having someone ship it to you, or to take it with you and hide it in your spandex.
I am going to Ft. benning.
What is the best option.
What happens if i get caught with it....
Oh, and were would I put it in my spandex?

These people must not have gone to Benning.
Save yourself the risk of even more humiliation and dont do it.

Guy in my platoon was caught with one. He got an Article 15, 14 days extra duty, and bumped down to e1 for e3.
Its not worth it.

Fort Leonard Wood they are being allowed to have them one day a week. So, they check them out to the soldier in the morning and he/she has to check it back in before dinner....
Not sure if Benning is doing this now or not.

Just take it, if you can't have it they'll tell you to put it in your personal bag. Do that, do not try to sneak it in. We were able to use ours during personal time towards the end of white phase, but we were told it was because our complex was knew and we had no pay phones yet. Some friends said they got theirs occasionally anyway. Or don't take it and save yourself the money, you probably won't have a lot of chances to use it anyway ;)
One of two things can happen:
They find it without anyone telling them, or
Others want to use it, which they will, and if they don't all get to for X amount of time, someone will tell.
Regardless, they'll find it and you'll most likely get an Article 15. We had 3 guys sneak them in right away, caught 3 days later, article 15s were given out. Then we had a guy get transferred from another company and he had one in his laundry detergent, sure enough, first thing they did was shoved their hand in and found it.
The drill sergeants are not dumb, they know what's going on. Even the ones fresh out of DS School knew, don't risk it.

You can bring it but they'll take it away from you and lock it up until the very end.
My husband was as Benning and he called me pretty regularly. I'd say about once a week or more sometimes. Other weeks though he wasn't allowed a phone call but that was pretty rare. I usually could count on a phone call on Sundays if not Sunday then Saturday or Monday. Towards the end he called me every few days.

I wouldn't turn it off if you plan on taking it with you because you will get to use it towards the end.

You can bring your phone.
Our training company gave them to us once or twice a week for whatever amount of time we had earned. During passes we'd get them depending on the DS on CQ for the day. Last week of gold phase we got them everynight until lights out starting at personal time.
Again, don't try to sneak a phone in. Remember your core values. Keep your integrity, if caught you'll never be able to regain the trust and respect of your DS's.

yeah, with my service all i have to do is call an 800 number and it is turned back on immediately... so just in case i have it suspended and i will turn it back on if i get it to use.

I guess this varies based on the training location. I have 2 good friends that just came off the Drill SGT trail at Fort Jackson. Both told me their privates were allowed Cell phone usage during the evenings and on weekends.

When I went to Leonardwood for OSUT, I didnt get my cell until week 14. Every company is very different on rules. Best thing is to bring items to write letters, and prepaid phone cards. Have some self courage and let something as little as a cell phone be the least of your worries. You are there to train, dont go in with the mindset of bucking the system. The punishments can be very harsh and not always for the individual. You can be punished as a platoon or company depending on your chain of command. I have seen a whole company have cell phones taken away because of one soldier.

DON'T.
For your own sake, don't do it.
I knew a guy that got away with it for the whole nine weeks and got busted at the end. It ****** for him.
Seriously man, get used to missing your griflriend. Write letters. It helps.
I missed mine, but I got through it. No problem. You can do it.
Good luck!!

There was a time, even as recently as 7 years ago, when recruits didn't have cell phones to worry about whether to bring it or not. You can survive without it.

If you get a BCT unit like mine, you'll get to use it for 10 minutes a week.
I've heard some units that let them have phones for most of the Sunday every week.
Varies unit to unit.
Good luck!!

Yes. Call them and they'll make it happen. You'll just add the inactive months to the old end date of your contract, which in my case is sometime in 2045.

You can bring them. But you won't be using them. They'll get stored in a closet or the DS office. Depending on your unit/AIT, you may be able to use them during that period.

You will get them back at the very end. Unless you get in a company that let's you use them on the weekends and let's everyone "do what they want to do."

In my company we were allowed to use them for 5 minutes on Sundays during BCT to try to cut off on people standing outside all night waiting to use the phones. On days like Thanksgiving Day we had an hour. Into AIT we were allowed to keep them in our lockers and use them on personal time.

I used TMOBILE at FLW, they get really good reception there, a few battle buddies had Alltel, that has good coverage as well.

but from what everyones saying, it seems like you should just take it and find out because it obviously depends on where you go and the DS

Whining about cellphones, MP3 players and being smoked. This army is getting fluffier every year.

You can bring your cell phone. Your DS will have you turn it off and put it in your bag along with your other personal items from home.(i.e cloths, laptops, ect) They will then lock it up along with everyone elses untill you grad. or they feel like giving it to you.

Ours were locked up in the DS office in a plastic zip lock w/ our roster # on it. Our company policy was: red phase 15 min. on Sunday's & White & Blue phase 30 min on Sunday's.
2 of our 3 DS's let us have them for about an hour once a week or every couple of weeks (not always Sunday). The other was never really around but the one time he did he followed the policy.
So in short: bring them and you may get them or you may not... all depends on the Drill Sgt.'s

We were allowed ours on Sunday in red and white phase for 5 minutes on Sundays. But in white phase, we were not given our cells every Sunday. As you get further in the cycle you will notice less and less DS around. Well during white phase we only had 2 DS on Sundays and if one wasn't from our platoon, too bad for us. We had to use pay phones.
