Hello,
I have 4yrs active Marine Corps under my belt, 1990-1994. Honorable discharge at pay grade E-4/Corporal. Current age 34. Can I re-enter as Army NG's E-4/Cpl or Spec-4? Is PLDC necessary for the rank of Cpl?
Do our ASVAB scores expire? Where are they recorded?
Do Marine Corps 0311 Infantry Rifleman and 8152 Security Guard MOS's transfer to Army? For Promotional points only, mind you. Considering 42Y MOS if this all pans out.
Thank you for any information.

you should get e-4 cpl. as far as mos's go, you would automatically get the 11b mos(infantry) because of the usmc service. your security mos may transfer to mp, but you would have to get in touch with a recruiter to find out.

You can join at the pay grade of E-4. Corporal in the Army as a whole is considered as a lateral promotion and a Junior NCO but you hardly see it being awarded outside of combat arms MOS's (you do not need PLDC to be laterally promoted to corporal).

For prior service enlistments scores are good for ten years. The ASVAB scores are kept as part of your military records jacket. As far as your specialties with the Marines, Infantry Rifleman transfers directly to 11B but there's no corresponding MOS for 8125 Security Guard. All it will take to award you the 11B is your DD214 if 0311 is listed in block 11.

42Y? Do you know the job description for this MOS? Are you referring to 42A, 42E or 42L? The job description would be helpful since some of the MOS designations have been recently converted.

Talk to a local recruiter if you want to join. You should have no problems according to the info you provided.
