Since the National Guard is both a State and Federal agency just how much does the State or more specifically in my case the NY state Goverment appriate money into the National Guard? I heard the other day that the Federal Goverment only appriates the Guard about 5 percent and the State is left to foot teh rest of the 95% percent bill, I'm having a hard time believeing this.

go to virtualarmory.com

You get 4,500/yr, in Federal Tuition Assistance. To cover what ever your state does not, in tuition and fees.

LOL no I don't mean that I mean the NY National Guards actual budget! I mean the Army National Guard is approiated by both the Federal and State goverment and I was wondering how much Money does the federal Goverment give to the National Guard for training equipment personal, etc. and how much does the State pay as well.

BS it doesn't. We run out of budgeted funds every year. It won't effect your drill pay, but it does significantly effect extra work people can do, training expenses, spare parts, getting stuff fixed at all much less in a reasonable time, facilities, everything you can think of.

There is no straight answer for the original question. It's different by category. For instance, for facilities (buildings/bases/etc) it may be 50/50. Where for drill pay or acquiring equipment required for our federal mission, that's the Army. But then a lot of what we do leading up to a hurricane is on state active duty, till a federal deceleration comes in.... it's complicated. There's a lot of pots of money for different things. Each one is a different ratio between the state & feds depending what it's for.

Haha no I'm not worried about that I was just curious about who give the Guard more thats all because as I said earlier the idea that the Federal Goverment only gives 5% is mind boggiling.

The Feds pay about 95% of the total expenditures, but a few States kick in more. State money matches federal funds on contrstruction projects, and hires state civil servants, among other things.

Thats what I thought! I mean I had a hard time believeing that the Federal Goverment gave so little to begin with. 95% percent sounds just about right.
