Hi everyone,
I just returned from BCT yesterday and found out that I gained 30 lbs since I shipped from MEPS!
I weighed 146 when I arrived at Ft. Jackson. I now weigh 176. That means I'm over the weight limit.
Will they not let me ship for AIT until I lose the extra weight?

Your weight gain is called muscle gain. They won't put you on that program. What they'll do first is the tape test. So they'll add that all up for you and see if your "fat". So if your in shape and not any noticeable fat on your body you'll be just fine.

I agree with Heratic. When I went to basic (back in 1980), I weighed about 136 lbs. When I finished I weighed 155-160. The only problem was that the clothes I was issued barely fit me.

OK So kind of hijacking this thread....do you need to meet the weight/height requirements to join if you're muscle instead of fat? Only reason I ask is because I'm a construction worker that's packed with muscle with a small beer gut and I'm over the weight limit for my height/age.

Hi,
I have not even enlisted yet but, I would like to know how far/long I should be able to run? What the requirement for my wieght would be with my hight. Also,
some daily routine excersices I should use to get in shape I would ask a recruit but I have yet to speak to one. I would like to enlist and be ready as soon as possible... Thank you,
