I just graduated from Ft Benning.... good to be back here on the forums. I just got to Ft Sam last night. I was at Alpha 2/47, 1st Plt Rough Riders. I have to say, I didn't mind the Drill Sgts. 30th AG is a nightmare, chock full of chaos. God forbid your boots don't fit or you have an issue with clothing. If you are like me and not an Infantryman, then, your training may be like mine. I'm talking Low speed/ High Drag/ Low stress. The cycle before mine at a different company, a kid walked up beside the 1SG and put the barrel of his rifle in his mouth and painted the inside of his ACH. I feel that the training could have been a **** of a lot better than it was. My Drills left a ****** in charge of our platoon for way too long. I call him a ****** because he's in the Guard and has been since Dec, still he can't march, salute, or do an About Face. unfortunately I have to run, so I will finish my rant later!

Ah, I have nothing but good memories of my time on Sand Hill. Arrived at Fort Benning June 4th at 0100. 30th AG was the worst week I'd ever gone through at that time. Sleep deprived to the point of crazy at least a few times. Was so happy when we left to go "downrange" to BCT.
I was A 2/47 June 12th through August 14th. 2nd plt and it wasn't so bad. The worst was being there for one nasty summer. Miss some of those guys I went through basic with. Was lucky enough to have some great DS's.

I report to Benning on 31 August, but I'm 09S, so I'll only be there for BCT.

11B training is so different from non combative MOS BCT. All I can tell you is don't be suprised at the things you are told you'll do, but never get to do. Bring one dollar bills for the powerade guy. And if you are in Drill Sgt Gallagher's platoon, enjoy.

I just graduated today from Ft. Benning. I am an 11b, infantryman. I was in C co 2-19 4th platoon. It was hard. I am a a college wrestler and found it challenging myself. The worst part was 30th AG by far but red phase ******! Little sleep and a lot of pushups, flutter kicks, and front-back gos. It was one big mind game. We got messed with all the time. The best advice I can give you is just wake up and toe the line every morning like the ds tell you to do. It does get easier with time, but you won't think so at that point in time. The DS are looking for you to give 100% all the time. If you do that then they won't mess with you. My DS didn't even know who I was until like week 10 when I became squad leader. I enjoyed my time there and would never want to do it again. The hardest part for me personally was the bayonet road march to honor hill. Our rucks weighed right about 85lbs and it ****** for all 15 miles. If you have any questions about training just pm me and I will be happy to fill you in.

Graduated August 14th 2008 last year. Wasn't that bad from my experience. I had a rough time with a few nagging injuries. All but one DS was supportive. My senior DS knew I was a good trainee and would bust my *** so he gave me all the help and support. The only bad thing was how it affected my PT performance. But through sheer guts and hard work I still made it and both he and one of my other drill sergeants at the end complimented me and honestly it felt great.
The only problem I really had the whole time was how much we really didn't do. No night land nav, no team obstacle course, no night fire, no company assault, very little marching due to the epidemic level of heat causalities that went on during summer 2008. Not just with my company A 2/47, but brigade and base wide. Our last ruck, the big ceremonial final ruck march, ended up only be about 3.5 miles. We started at 3AM. They actually transed us closer past "stairway to heaven" and let us sleep from about 1400 until 0200. It was a bit of a letdown for me.
Actually I think we could have used more training and a bit harder training. It was in the end less than I expected. Good training though all through.
The thing I have missed the most are some of my friends I made there. Was very fortunate quite a few of us went to Gordon as 25S and 25P. But it is true, you are with those guys so long and so much that you do become close with at least a few of your battle buddies.

Once I read "25S" and "25P", I breathed a sigh of relief.
