so i searched the forums for an answer and could not find one, so i hope i did not overlook this somewhere.

i am in an airborne unit and i got airborne in my contract and my original orders say that i will go to airborne school after ait.
i have about three weeks left in ait and i have not gotten any new orders to go to airborne school nor can my platoon sergeants tell me when i will be going to airborne school.

since i am in the guard, do i go home after ait and then my unit slots me a seat in airborne school or am i held over here until they do? noone here at ft. huachuca can give me an answer.

thanks

It all depends on when a class starts and when your seat is sloted. You should go from AIT but theres a chance you might not have been sloted for a few weeks or so. Its not mandatory for you to go right after AIT so no worries youll get in. On a side note you could not get orders untill after AIT due to if you dont pass AIT your unit could change and it would be a AB slot wasted.

well yea thats what i was wondering is when they actually slot me a seat...
i figured that i was slotted a seat when they wrote up my contract but was told yesterday that my unit slots the seat so i was wondering if they slot it while im here or if i go home and check in with them and they slot it then.

thanks for the quick response!

Its prolly going to happen once you report back to your unit.

Bring up the issue to your Chain of command there at your ait unit. You might become a hold over and stay till the seat is open, depends on the wording of the contract. Airborne is at ft Benning, so be prepared for hot humid days and whatnot.
