I'm not sure if it is considered DEP in the Guard, but in my question to follow I am referring to the time spent from when you take your oath, until the time one ships to basic.

I am going to use a hypothetical situation here; let's say I have 40 college credits when I take my oath. According to what I've read, that would put me at an E-2. And let's say, I don't ship for basic until 4 or 5 months from now. During that time, I keep attending college and end up with 52 credits. Would that put me as an E-3 if I brought my transcripts with me to basic? Or do you only get the credits you had BEFORE you signed and took your oath?

Also, to get E-4; is it an associates degree, bachelor's degree, or an x amount of credits?

Upon proof of over 48 credits or an associates degree you should be able to get E-3. I am not sure how quick it will take to process you from E-2 to E-3 that way. I am not 100% sure on this, but am pretty sure.

Getting E-4 before basic requires a bachelor's degree, that I am positive of. I will have 85 credits before going to basic, and I get no E-4.

Getting E-4 before basic requires a bachelor's degree

Or if qualified, signing into a MOS that accepts Civilian Aquired Skills (ACASP)

As long as you have over 48 credits before you ship to training you will be promoted to E3. Just take the transcripts to your RSP and they will fix it for you.

It may take some time, but even if it is not complete before you ship, you should still receive the backdated pay.

Cool, thanks. I already have 45 credits and am taking courses this summer. I'm not even enlisted yet (waiting for waiver ban to be lifted). So I will have the 48 needed.

I used the scenario above because I was going to use it incase I may be able to make E-4, and in case others were in a situation closer to that.

So, looks like I will be an E-3. Thanks again.

It could be awhile before the wavier ban is lifted. Not trying to shoot down your hopes but I had a wavier approved and I missed getting in by a few days. Its hard to wait when you really want something but its well worth it.
