The bonus is usually given out 1/2 after you finish basic, and half after your 3 year anniversary. Since you went through Marine Basic Training, you shouldn't have to go through WTC so your first half should be coming soon.

First check with your unit, and then your State Incentives/Benefits Coordinator. You need to ensure that any cross-over training is completed - and also ensure that you have MOS orders that show you are fully qualified for your slot.

If you are fully qualified for your slot, have an active MOS order stating that, and have no further training toward your position required you should recieve a check (Direct Deposit) within 2 to 4 weeks of enlisting. Do not quote me on that as fact, because we all know that sometimes in the military it can be quick, or take a bit longer.

In my case an MOS order was not published, so I was not considered qualified for my position, which caused the process to drag out to two months - once the oversight was corrected and the MOS order published I was paid the first half of my bonus (minus taxes) about two weeks later.

Actually, you get the first installment after you finish AIT, not basic ;) From what my battle buddies and I have experienced, it takes about 30 days to get the money once you get back from AIT.
