I'd rather have your question out in the open, so others may benefit.

If any of you have done a JAG packet please pm me.
Your packet would go to the speciality OSM of the state, which I have not seen any on this site...I have refered a few to my LT, and have some very basic knowledge about the process, so that I can give LT some good information and leads. I am not sure if I could answer your question, but lay it on me and I will research it for you.

Here is the short version:
-I was selected and offered the JAG position by my state JAG pending approval etc. (Aug)
-I completed my packet (November)and and completed a physical (through DodMerb) I was informed that I needed some standard waivers. (December)
- My old Officer recruiter (great guy) left and a new one took over. To say that he is less than enthusiastic about my case is and understatement.
-No waivers done timely so I missed the Febuary JAG board.
- due to my age (45 w/ prior service) I had to be in before June 21, next board is in July.
-New Recruiter is oblivious on how things work or what to do so he does nothing and does not return calls.
- I call Dodmerb, they refer me to waiver authority who will only speak to recruiter. I get the Lt there to call my recruiter. She does that day.
- I let a week pass to give him time to figure out what is going on and then call. When I finally get my recruiter to answer the phone (leaving two messages over two days -hardly qualifies as pestering) and he says he is unsure if my medical packet was submitted but certainly the waivers have never been submitted. He does not know if he or someone else submits the waivers. OBTW I did the physicals for this program at series of private doctors through Dodmerb.
- The march 17 directive comes out.....
- Officer recruiter oblivious.....
- I contact the local guard recruiter and he goes into action. I get a medical exam for prior service and the paperwork completed in two days. Enlist for a trione program on the 20th. I am in so still viable for the JAG program.
Question:
1. Do I have to go through Dodmerb for the physical or can I somehow use my prior service exam that I just completed? They signed waivers for an ACL reconstruction and diverticulitus surgury through the state surgon general... it took about 20 min.
2. Who submits the waivers DodMerb or my Recruiter?
3. If it is my recruiter how does he do it? If not then how do we get them submitted?
Thanks

A chapter 2 phys is more in depth than a DODMERB, and can be used.
2. Who submits the waivers DodMerb or my Recruiter?
your recruiter should, but if you are already in, another waiver should not be necessary
3. If it is my recruiter how does he do it? If not then how do we get them submitted?
he submits the forms thru his supervisor to the waiver section in the RRB
Thanks
and there is a ten charactor min...maybe a mod or an administrator can exempt me from that:confused:

Thanks for your help... is this something that they should know, how do I steer them to this?

I'm very puzzled about use of a DoDMERB physical. Where did that come from? If I were your OSM, I would send you to MEPS for a Chapter Two (initial entry) physical, submit waivers as necessary, get answers back in two weeks (average time for answers on NGB med waivers). In the meantime, we'd complete the FedRec and JAG packets. I'd get the FedRec pre-flighted with the civilians in the State G1, so as soon as we get the JAG board results we can submit you for FedRec.
If you lack confidence in your recruiter, then please elevate the issue. Everyone has a boss. No need to be a jerk, but this is your life, and you need to take care of yourself.

Thanks for the information.
I do not know why they went through dodmerb, but I thought that was the way it was done. Dodmerb certainly was no stranger to JAG physicals and were not suprised. That said, I will pass on this info to my recruiter and see what happens.
I would think that not that I am in the Guard, it would make it easier to get accepted to the JAG program.

I am interested to know whether things worked out for you.
I am experiencing some similar issues with my JAG application. I know that every case is different, but it would be helpful to know if it worked out for you.

My packet was submitted for the board at HQJAG to review with the deadline of June 25th. I guess that it takes about a month before they decide if I am accepted.
I will keep you posted..
