I have attended MEPS in Dec. 2008 to enlist and go to BCT/AIT over the summer and then come back under the GRFD/SMP agreement for ROTC. Upon attending MEPS I was told I needed a medical waiver for a "high refractive index." The paperwork was submitted to the NGB with a response for another refractive index diagnosis in the end of Dec. 2008. I again went to MEPS and was sent to an outside provider for the testing early Jan. 2009. The medical records from the exam were again sent to the NGB for the waiver process the second week of Jan. 2009. Since then I have not heard anything in regards to the waiver, being told it is still in processing at the NGB. Is this normal, and if not what would be the recommendations for trying to expedite the process?
