Probably not going to MEPS tomorrow now. My recruiter call me and said he had to get an AG waiver signed. What is this?

State level waiver, stands for Adjutant General. Generally supposed to come back in a week or less. As opposed to a NGB or National Guard Bureau waiver which takes anywhere from a month to infinity to complete.

Well that week is well past. It has been a month and some. My recruiter keeps saying haven't heard anything, he will call me as soon as he hears something. In febuary I called the 1800goguard # and asked for a new recruiter (one that didn't work in the same office as my current one). The lady gave me the # and it turns out that the guy is good friends with my current recruiter. So I said nevermind I'll just stay with my current one, he finds out that I was going to switch and was pissed at me. I seriously doubt that he would hold me back from the enlisting process because of this... right?

I've spent a lot of time with my recruiter, many hours shooting the breeze. It didn't take me long to realize that they all know each other, they may not like each other, they may be best friends, but they all know each other. That can be a problem. Before I really got to know mine, and understand the process from behind the scenes a little, I almost called around myself. I'm so glad I didn't! The guy knows EVERYONE. I will say that other folks are having the same problems with waivers as you (and probably me, time will tell). You could always just ask him for the paperwork showing when it was sent. You know "for your records". I know how you feel, the waiting game *****, but I guess we can't expect to get a call every day saying "Still not back yet, call you tomorrow." These folks are extremely busy and their world doesn't revolve around us.

Yeah true and I know he dosen't like it when I call everyother day just to check in on it. I guess I just like to vent on the forums about how long it is taking.

I also waited longer than expected for my waiver and started to doubt my recruiter...
The waiver came, it wasn't his fault.
The only thing you can do once that waiver is sent is call your recruiter and ask if he has checked on the status of the waiver. When I did this he called his boss who confirmed the waiver was with the General/who needed to sign it and shortly, soon enough it did come back signed.
This was a state waiver also.

Lol...Im in your boat too!!! Waaaaaaiiiting on a waiver. I am fortunate enough to have a great recuiter who cares though. Although on two different occasions I had problems getting ahold of him...
I called him, got vm, left a msg...waited a day, called again...after one ring it went to voice mail. You know that means call ignored! And the next time I called him later in the day...and he finally answered. I happened to always call him about 8:30am (after I got to work and get settled in my comfy little office) and he has meetings at that time.
Second time he told me to call him at this particular time, we were supposed to set up a time for me to bring in some paper work...he ignored the call. So I just drove over to the armory during my lunch break (its like 10 min away), and he was in the middle of meeting with a FS. But I got to see SGT Holzman when the kid left so it was okay.
Third time it happened, I found out later (by hiim) that his father in TX is very very ill, and he was working to get his brother back home (was deployed) so they could get to TX. I felt bad.
So sometimes they arent ignoring you, or not caring, they really do got other things goin on. He told me to call him any time I want, as often as I want. But I dont, I will either call him twice a month, or just wait for him. Because if it gets approved....certainly he will call me!

Every time I see mine, his phone is ringing off the hook. He has picked me up at 6am more than once and dropped me off at 11pm just last night. His wife has been in hospital a lot and he had to go to school for 3weeks for SFC promotion. Still had to do his job in the meantime. These are things I know because I talk to him about them, if I was new to this I would think he was ignoring my calls on purpose. The truth is, there ARE some lazy, dirtbag recruiters out there, but most likely, if he doesn't pick up the phone, it's because he's talking to someone else, or filling out paperwork, or in a meeting, or his phone is dead, or he's napping because he was up at 0345 to take someone to MEPS, etc, etc...
