The day ait ends are you allowed to leave with your family to go on vacation with them or what have you, or do you have to fly back home?

If you are a National Guard member they will transport you from Ait to your home (or close to it) on their dime. If you choose to go elsewhere it may be on your own dime. You fill out the paperwork sometime during Ait on what your plans are afterwards. You can leave with your family, however, it may be on your own dime when they would have paid for you to go home on your own.
In the National Guard you have a time period before you have to contact your aassigned unit after graduation from Ait. While at Ait if you learn you are getting deployed immediately afterwards, things could be different. If your assigned unit is far into the alert period, they may be on Title 10 orders already and then you are under their orders and its possible you have zero time between the two. But it is unlikely that would be the case, however, it can happen.

^what about BCT? My family is going to drive down for Family Day & Graduation. Would I have to fly back, or could I leave and hit the road with them?

Yes, you should be able to.
You should be on leave right after AIT is up.It doesn't matter what your orders say. Just as long you are back for your drill at RSP.

I just pulled a phone number off my orders, called and postponed my flight for a week so I could hang out in Columbia. It would have been on my dime but I stayed at a barracks on base at night instead of a hotel. :) It was a good way to blow off steam before heading back home.

Everything you learned in active service will be tossed out the window. Well not really, keep your military mind and all will be good.. :)

Are you split option? If so you can leave with your family. You should be called down and given the option of traveling home on the Army or leaving with your family. I had to sign a form stating that I understood that I was responsible for reporting to my unit on time and with my packet. Then I rubbed it in to my battles that I would be sleeping with my wife that night and wished them luck.
If you are going directly to AIT, no. Family day will be your chance to visit with your family. I think we had about 20 mins after graduation to visit before those soldiers headed to AIT had to board their busses.
