Hi all,

I was just wondering if I would be eligible to receive the BAH Guard Members are eligible for while in RSP (I am married, and thanks to College Credits should be going in as an E-4 once I get my paperwork squared away)? Also, would I have to provide the documentation to show I am in a rental agreement or is that only for single members going to basic?

Thanks in advance for any information or replies!

I'm pretty sure BAH is only paid while you are active duty. You will not get it while drilling, neither with RSP nor after you are handed off to your unit. You will get it while active duty for training. One of the recruiters here can tell you for sure. I can't remember having to provide a rental agreement or mortgage info to get it. (I was married with no children at the time I enlisted. Still married. Now with a child.)

You do not get BAH while in RSP (it's 2 days a month on the weekend).

Your BAH will kick in when you go on active duty at Basic/AIT. It will be automatic since you are married (you have dependents). You would have provided a copy of your marriage license to your recruiter with your initial paperwork. Bring a copy of that to Basic just in case.

You will receive partial BAH during your 2-week Active Training each year with your unit.

You do not receive BAH during drills (again, it's only 2 weekend days a month).

Full BAH only applies to at least 1 month of active duty (to include training, ADOS or AGR orders)

A reduced version is used for your 2 or 3 week annual training called BAH Type II or RC/T.

Thanks for all the replies and info - it cleared up a lot of confusion I had about BAH and BAH-II (I knew that as a member of the Guard I wouldn't be eligible for BAH aside from going through Basic/AIT/Deployment etc, but didn't know where the BAH-II came in).
