So i go back to finish my AIT on july 21. And i was just wondering what i would have to do to get Ranger into my contract, and if it is even possible without going active duty army.

I've read somewhere about becoming a Ranger and the post said to focus on Airborne training then volunteer for Ranger school. Not sure though, you should call your recruiter.

Are you talking about the opportunity to attend ranger school or becoming a member of the 75th Ranger Regiment?

Want happen. The opt 40 is for active duty and this is the option to try and go to Ranger Reg. This is where you go to airborne then RIP. As for Ranger School you have to be a E-4 or in the Ranger Regt. and if you are in the guard you will go to Warrior Training Center at Ft. Benning and have to complete PreRanger.

Re-up when? You haven't even completed AIT. And you're pretty much obligated to fulfill your contract in the ARNG, right? Get back to your unit, bust your butt for a few years and express an interest - maybe you'll get lucky.

How can you enlist AD when your already in the guard? You said you completed basic and just need to go back for AIT. You could enlist AD when your six years are up.

You'll have to see a Career Counselor to be sure but I'm almost positive that most Guard units won't release you for 2 years. At that time you can put in for the Regular Army. I doubt very much that you'll be able to get an Option 40 contract. The Army is very stingy about giving that to prior service. It has happened, though.
If you're in an Infantry unit check to see if you can go to Airborne School. that would be a good first step. Also check if your unit has ever sent anyone to Ranger School. You can go after you make SPC/CPL. Ranger School won't get you in the 75th but if you applied & were excepted you'd go to RIP unless you were SSG or higher. In that case you'd go to ROP.
Now don't you wish you would have done more research before joining the Army? Believe me - there are many that I come across online that want to go Active Army from Guard or Reserves. Mostly Guard. Guard Recruiters aren't concerned with the Regular Army or Army Reserve-under a different Recruiting Command. Allof a sudden young soldiers want active duty, Airborne School, Option 40, & all sorts of things that are relatively easy to get on an enlistment contract for Regular Army if you qualify.
Good luck,
