After AIT is over I will come home I suppose and be stuck looking for a job again like everyone else. What are the chances that I can get active duty pay doing something for the armory or Guard? What title should I speak to about this? I also want to know more about how the whole system works and the people involved. A great way to do so would be working full time at the armory. I will be a 25U "commo". Dont know if thats going to matter. Also we have literally a brand new armory that just opened last month. I am hoping that over time they will get some kinks worked out and start figuring out what they are going to be needing as far as personal goes. Any thoughts on the matter would be helpful. Thanks.

You should look into your state's ARNG Technician openings. Check out your states ARNG website, and look for job openings. The main qualifier is that you have to be in the Guard, and you got that. Keep in mind, they are competitive, and in my state, the openings seem a little top heavy (O-3 and E-7 openings), but there are various positions.

Also ask your supply SGT if he/she needs help, and they might be able to give you some part-time work every now and then with "RMA".

Also, you can look into recruiting for the Guard.

Also, you can volunteer for deployments.

Good Luck!
