lol, i dont know, my original plan was, sign in sept. go to bct in feb.

well it took a while to set up an appt with my first recruiter b/c of conflicting schedules and i got laser eye surgery so i couldn't look at a computer screen for 2 weeks. (it wasn't lasik) i took the asvab in october and i was supposed to meet recruiter #1 the next week but he got sidetracked with family problems and stopped working for a while. (completely understandable) so it took a few weeks of calling the 1-800 # to get a new recruiter. got the new recruiter, we set up a few appts but he had to cancel a few times and then i had to cancel b/c i had to get my dog emergency surgery. so we finally got together the first week of january to fill out the medical paperwork and look at jobs. now i'm waiting on MEPS to ok my stuff. my recruiter thinks they are going to want an ok for my eye doctor. and this recruiter is also dealing with illness in his own family so i'm not going to rush him and act like i'm his only potential recruit.

but the new plan is to go to BCT by june.

Welcome. Watch out for low flying spam.

If you need any help, dont be afraid to ask. Most of us on here have "been there, done that".

Your recruiter is right about the eye doctor.

Any jobs in mind you want to do

Welcome to the forums! Wealth of information here...just FYI, you may find it a little tough trying to get a June slot, but MEPS will know since they select your slot when you do your contract. Lots of high school kids take up that beginning of summer period, since the HS juniors need to go to BCT during summer break, and those that didn't do split option are wanting to go right after graduation and get away from mom and dad.

Good luck! MEPS is no fun, but a necessary evil. It's a day or two of your life and well worth the end result.

i want to be an intelligence analyst. my recruiter said they'll check my credit score and what not for that. btw, is a 671 a good enough credit score? both of my loans are up to date and the only real problem with my credit report is the limited history.

there you go.

Good FICO Score

FICO score of 700 and higher means Excellent or Very Good credit. Certain lenders offer better rates and/or discounts if you are over 720, 740, etc. Pity, their greedy loan officers might never share them with you.
FICO score from 680 to 699 means Good. Pretty much you can get a normal loan. Translating in layman terms you won't be robbed too bad.
FICO score from 620 to 679 is OK. You won't be denied but the terms are not going to be too generous. Still you are officially a nice person. But you better check the increase credit score (http://www.bad-credit-advisor.com/improve-my-credit-score.html) page.

Its not so much the score that matters, its more if there are any delinquent accounts, charge offs, etc.

If you have not defaulted on any of your accounts (or payments past due 30+ days) then you're good to go. They don't care about a FICO score, that's just a product that the big 3 credit agencies sell to make it easy for lenders who use it to stick you in various credit tiers (and Experian is trying to promote a "new" score to differentiate itself from the other 2 agencies).

thanks for the responses. my actual credit report is good. my score was at 760 before i co-signed for a car loan. all i can really do now is pay off my own loan and let the other person pay theirs.

Uh-oh....the co-signor. MAKE SURE THAT GUY/GIRL PAYS THAT DARN THING ON TIME EVERY MONTH.

Don't do what I did and assume your ex-wife is paying on time because she said it's all taken care of and then forget about it. Call every month the day after the due date and make sure a payment posted.

How important are credit scores / missed payments for "secret" level? I am currently walking away from a double mortgage loss of around 100k trying to work with my lawyer on it but basically I havent paid either mortgage in over 2 months. Most likely I wont be, until we agree on a pay off or a foreclosure. :(

non payments or charge offs can have an affect on you getting your secret clearance. Doesnt mean that you def wont get it though.

They'll ask for any current debts over 90 days and any debts ever over 180 days. And then for your explanation...
