You can get up to E4. Not sure how many credits you need for that though. Try doing a search on the forum

<30 credit hours = E-1. 30 to 59 hours = E-2. >60 = E-3. You can have 200 credit hours, but if you don't have a bachelor's, it's E-3.

If you are, say, and experienced heavy equipment operator...Could that bring you some advanced rank if you selected that as your MOS?

If you go into the army with an e-4 pay scale because you have a bachelors, do you still rank like e-1's or e-2's? Because I know that e-4 can be achieved with like a year or two in service, and nothing would really seperate you from an e-1 a few years down the line... all that college for nothing.

We had a guy that was a E4 from his college stuff, fresh out of basic, but our platoon daddy had us treat him like he was a regular E-1.
Is it right? No, it's not. But some Chain of command is like that

Until you graduate BT/AIT, you're dirt like everyone else.
Afterward when you get with your unit, you'll only have FNG status...instead of FNG+Private status. That and you don't get to play dumb for too long like you could if you started out private.

Captain under the CASP program yes he/she would be enlisted as: E-4/SPC.
But he has to have 2 years of experience as operator of crawling or wheeled tractors, graders, or loaders and be certified as Civil
Service-rated Heavy Construction Equipment Operator, WB-10, or have 2 years of experience and be apprenticed member
of International Union of Operating Engineers, AFL-CIO.
Now this guy came into my engineer unit, this guy would know his stuff. I would give him respect to the job. I would be getting this guy/gal teaching classes on the dozers and the C to find out where he is at.
The college puke (no offence) enlisted as a E-4 sorry if I was his squad leader I would be treating and training him like a E-1.
Difference one allready has 2yrs of experience and has a clue.

What about AP Tests? The tests that give you college credit. Can having a years worth of college credit with them get you advanced rank? They are accepted at just about every college for credit.

refer back to the table that was given about college credits to rank.
30 to 59 hours = E-2
^ if you have 30 credit hours from AP test you can be rank E-2
this might not be 100% accurate, so just google it. Or ask a recruiter. But i doubt youll get any higher than E-2 with a few AP tests...

Ok...heres the actual answer straight from the ECM(enlistment criteria manual)
24 Credits = Promotion to E2
48 Credits = Promotion to E3
and then also as was said earlier, you wont get early promotion to E4 for college credits unless you have a bachelors degree
