Any advice? (other than shut up and do what I am told!:o )
After BT, I go to Fort Eustis for AIT. Will I get to go home between BT and AIT? What about holidays, do we get to go home for Thanksgiving and Christmas when in AIT? My home is about 3 hours from Fort Eustis, so I can drive if they'll let me go.
Anybody else going either place anytime soon?
BTW-I am 19 and my MOS is 15R.

Get this book "THE ULTIMATE BASIC TRAINING GUIDEBOOK" IT COVERS TIPS, TRICKS AND TACTICS FOR SURVIVING BOOT CAMP BY SGT. MICHAEL VOLKIN. This is a great book as a must have for anyone going to boot camp. I found out that this book is highly regarded in the forums so i picked up a copy my self. ISBN# 1-932714-11-1. If you want just go to Amazon.com and type in the title or ISBN to find it or just go to your local book store with the info above to pick up a copy. I think it was around $15.00 or so. I have been reading this book for a short time now and it's loaded with tons of great info. It will also give you a head start and a heads up before you get to BCT. By the way congratulations on joining.
Take care and be safe,
Anthony

I have a private down there now. He is training to be a 15T. You won't have much time between basic and AIT. Usually 1-2 days. I'm not sure about Thanksgiving, but there is a Christmas Exodus which is 2 weeks that you will be able to go home.

Good luck and even if you only have a few hours or one night to go through the book it is still worth it. The first night i read it for about 2 hours and learned quite a bit and enough i think to help keep my self out of trouble at BCT.
Take Care
