It's been over a MONTH since the paperwork for me to transfer from a TPU (on the reserve side...was finishing off the IRR time) to the NY national Guard has been filed. I check at least once a week and still no progress....really what gives?
It's a simple 4187 along with a DD368 along with a personal note explaining the circumstances... I've been around the army system for a while and the paperwork trail smells like BS (i.e. he/she has it and so on...everyone's passing the buck).
With a full time job it's a little hard for me to constantly keep track of this deal, how hard is it? I have a valid physical, good RE code, no flags, etc... all I want to do is enlist, serve, and deploy.
It's getting to the point where I'm about to just say screw it and do something more productive with my time.

just a rant really, think I'm just gona go look for a hug to make myself feel better ;)

Here is a hug brother lol. Do you know what you in the NYARNG you going to be with? Find out from them as well if just going through the recruiter.

1st no hug here

that being said, I think your problem has something to do with a recent change "they" made in who can sign a 368. It use to be a CAPT or something like that. Now its a O6 I think. I think you will be better off after 1 Oct.

1st no hug here...against my "man code"

once you starting taking fire with your "men" on the left and right; believe me, you will throw your man code out the door. Nothing wrong hugging another soldier but I guess I got too many hugs when I was a 42A :D

thanks for the replies folks
a new issue of maxim just arrived in the mail so my mood is no longer sour for the time being:cool:

anyway to get back on topic, it was mentioned to me that a CG has to sign it, but that also was a while ago. I'm just playing the waiting game right now, but as you mentioned, contacting the unit I'm joining might help...I haven't thought of that for some reason.

for a transfer from the Guard to the Reserves? Shocking that has to get approved at that level. Isnt that a little too much micro-managing and it just be a rubber stamp sign anyway.

other way around, reserve TPU to the Guard
I don't even have a contract with the reserves, I just did a 4187 (while being IRR) just to drill with them

Have you been in the IRR for two years? And what made go into the IRR? Finished active duty?
