Is there anyone out there that can recommend any material that will help this prior service Marine (16 years removed) to prepare for the drill and ceremony aspect of AOCS? I hope to swear in within the next month and to attend Winter AOCS in Alabama. I have read (in multiple forums) that it is expected that the OC know his/her D&C. I'm sure that Phase Zero and the OC Guide will help, but is there anything else to help me prepare?

This may sound silly, if there is a college with ROTC in your area try calling the cadre member who oversees their drill team. They probably practice one night a week and may let you observe to brush up on your skills. School will be starting soon so they will be teaching the basics to the newer members.

if you are a former-marine, your D and C should be tight but no froggy calls during your preparatory and command of execution commands. and no dada doooss during cadence calling. Just know how to fall-in a formation and to receive the report and have constant accountability at whatever level you leading e.g. squad or platoon. Not everybody in OCS has a leadership turn in CO or XO duties that will go on your leadership cards. PL should be where you are rated and watch your spot reports as well. But yes, download that manual and remember there are no obliques in the army lol but anyway, in the course, you will always be wrong so prepared to hit the deck oopps ground and just knock out push-ups and sir yes sir your TAC constantly. and no walking never lol you always move at a double time.

I went to WLC (warrior leader course=nco school) shortly after transfering from Marines to ARNG and I got used to it pretty quick. During my prep commands they were looking at me kinda funny. But its easy compared to what your used to... Hey I might be in the winter OCS class as well. Maybe see you there if your going to AL. prior marine wont have to do bct.mike.

I found and saved FM 3-21.5 and it is not a short read by any means (at 200+ pages). It gives me a place to start. THANKS!!

I have not sworn in yet and being prior service Marine Corps, I do not have to attend BCT or AIT. Once I swear in I will drill with the State OCS candidates, go through Phase 0, and then attend AOCS in January (in AL).

Just know your basics, I just graduated AOCS in Alabama. If you know your basic commands and can march around, you will be fine. If you get a TOP THREE position, you might want to brush up on some more. Also, get to know the PT D&C, just do a quick read through of some exercises and how to call D&C for it.
