Talked to a recruiter today about some options I have for joining the Guard, I am about to be a junior in college and would like to join the ROTC program at my school. My only concern is going into the program with no prior knowledge of the military, but having an MS 3 rank. Will I be to far behind? I really don't want to take a semester off to go to OCS, but if i'm going to train to be an officer I don't want to be playing catch-up the whole time. Thanks in advance.

ROTC is a four year program. If you're a junior, how do you plan to complete the program? Soldiers who have completed Basic and AIT are given constructive credit for the first two years, so perhaps you could take off a semester to complete that, or extend at college another year (graduate degree?).

My on campus recruiter told me that a simple waiver form would get me in, I would go to LTC Next Summer and then LDAC after my senior year, I would contract this semester (4 Years) but the extra two years not completed would fall off when I went into the guard, or active duty after LDAC.
