i have my ears gauged out to an inch but recently took them out as i planned on going in the guard. now i have these holes in my ears. they aren't huge but are slowly closing up. this isn't going to disqualify me from going into the guard is it?

It'll be up to MEPS as to whether you're qualified or not.

Just based on what I've read... I think that you *MAY* be good to go... but just so ya know... I don't work for MEPS.

Have you talked to a Guard recruiter... if not... go for it.

If you think you're qualified to serve... what's a little "gauged ear" between "friends".

BTW... by "gauged ear"... do you mean those big holes in the lobes that have those round ear thingys? If so... ouch!

But just so ya know... nothin' anyone says on here... really matters... you'll only know for certain once you start the enlistment process... namely your physical at MEPS.

Best of luck to you...

Yeah that is exactly what he is talking about.

Well... this just about says it all:

http://usmilitary.about.com/od/army/l/blpiercing.htm

I don't see anything in the Medical Standards about the holes in the ears...

But then again... as always... what MEPS says goes... it's their call.

i really appreciate everyones input..yeah they were pretty large....but i have had them out for a week and they have already started closing up...i just wasn't sure if i was gonna run into any obstacles. for the record i am prior service so i wasn't even sure i was gonna have to go back to meps or not.

Just like Echo mentioned, it'll be up to the MEPS in your area. I know for a fact that a soldier in my former unit was able to get in once they closed (they still looked like slits). BTW, being able to get passed one of the MEPS physical teams doesn't necessarily means that'll be the case for MEPS in another region. The best way to find out is going thru the phys once you feel comfortable enough with how much they have closed.
