Good afternoon,

I had a quick question regarding the timeline of training. I know that OBC is the 16 months, weekend and 2 weeks. After this time, what sort of time is required for training? I am discussing this with my work, and a retired LTC states that there is an additional 4-6 months of full-time, be-away education. In my case, I want to work in intel and document analyzation (go figure, I'm an archivist) and she states that I would be looking at the 4-6 months at Fort Huachuca, AZ. I would like to find out exactly what sort of time line I am looking at, so that I may make the most informed decision possible. I have a bachelors in history, will finish my masters next year, and work for the Army Museum system, as well as parenting while being married to active duty.

Thank you for your time.

You may wish to review the OCS information on this site (http://www.1800goguard.com/training/ocs.php) for additional background on the OCS enlistment contract. I presume that when you have written "OBC" you mean "OCS."

The 4-6 months of active duty training is the formal training for your officer career field (e.g., Infantry, Quartermaster, Artillery), Basic Officer Leader Course Phases II and III. BOLC Phase I is pre-commissioning (i.e., OCS or ROTC); Phase II is a common-core of material; and Phase III is specific to your assigned career field.

Please note that you have limited influence over your officer career field, and Intel is not a particularly likely outcome.

Yup...everyone says Intelligence is EXTREMELY HARD to get.
