What is reception like in AIT? I know it might differ depending on the base, but in general, what happens during reception? Is it a lot like BCT?

Depending on where you go.
I went to Fort Lee so I slept all day until the rest of my Platoon showed up, then we did all the classes and then schooling.
But like I said, if you're AIT is 11B, it's going to be like BCT. If you're AIT is 42A, it's laid back. (note: Im not a 42A (: )

I didnt have Reception for AIT. I just reported directly to my company. It was easy.
