After some careful thought, I decided to go guard! I'm going to gather my paperwork, meet with the recruiter Monday, and get the ball rolling. I'm 29 and I'm going to list 15t, 21w, and light wheeled vehicle machanic (don't have the description in front of me) as my MOS choices. I not looking forward to MEPS, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I am looking forward to the RSP that they have here in Louisian. It seems to be pretty well organized. You drill at a location with other RSP'ers, not your unit. I think that will be pretty beneficial. Anybody else here 15t, or LA ARNG?

I have been in LA ARNG for 10 years, nine as MP and I am now a recruiter out of the Covington Armory. Just wanted to congratulate you on your decision to join. 15T should be the 244th AVN which is a very good unit. Good Luck.

Thanks. Are they moving that unit to Hammond? I had heard that, and saw some helicopters in Hammond when I visited the ANG recruiter, recently.
Thanks,
Kris

Yes they have moved to Hammond. They are buliding a 20 Million dollar readiness center for them and another 60 million on Hangers and other bulidings to support them. Their bulidings at the Lakefront in New Orleans were wipeout by Katrina. The 204 Air Traffic Services has also moved to Hammond which is mostly air traffic controllers.

I see. That's a plus for me, should I get that assignment. I saw what looked like temporary hangars (sprung building, it looked like). I'm pretty excited.
Thanks,
Kris
