Due to the deployment of 11 bravo next year they are no longer excepting applicants for the college first program in NC. Therefore I am changing my MOS and thinking about 19D Cavalry Scout. I was wondering how long the basic and AIT training is altogether and where they train is it Ft. Knox? Any thoughts, info.,and or tips would be appreciated. Thanks

They train at Fort Knox. I *think* their training is just as long as infantry...and mostly similar, but there is a few things unique to them since they are recon after all.

They do train at Knox. OSUT is 16 weeks long(9 for basic, 7 for ait) while 11b osut is 13 weeks. You learn way more as a 19D except how to dig a foxhole. We are always moving and our attention to detail is amazing(because it has to be). We learned most of the small arms systems(m4,m249,m240b and c, .50, javelin, at-4, m203, 25mm, tow launcher on a bradley, claymores, c4, most types of grenades). The Bradley fighting vehicle is pretty neat, so is the LRSSS. Not to mention the Cav's long tradition and great espri de corp. Scouts basically go more into depth on a lot of subjects.
