is listed as a disqualifier, but it doesn't list a time frame. I have a mild version of it right now, but if I were to have surgery done, it would correct the problem. Also, there is a good chance that after I lose all the weight I am planning on losing it will go away by itself.

Does anybody know anything about this?

My 1st question is, is it documented? If it is and you realy want to be in the national guard then I would not tell anyone about it. Sleep Apnea is very tricky. It can be caused by many factors. IE: Smoking, Drinking, Over wieght. If you have any of these problems than it may be something that you can beet. It is one of the highest paying disabilities in the army and is very dangerous because your lack of sleep could lead to an altered state of consciousness and you may be unable to proform your job. That is a decision that you must make though. If you want to join and try to battle it through a change in lifestile than more power to you.

Yes, It's been documented. Right now I use the mask at night, probably 3 nights out of seven. But the thing is, I could have opted to do the pillar procedure, which is successful about 85% of the time. I didn't because insurance doesn't cover that procedure.($1700 office visit) I am overweight, which is supposed to aggravage the apnea, and some people say help cause it.

I eas also diagnosed with it about 6 yrs ago and had to sleep with a Cpap mask, but I was over weight and drink a lot. I joined the guard and did not tell anyone about it. I went to basic and lost the weight and quit drinking. I do not have any effects anymore. I do not snore any more and I feel better than ever. That is just me and if you try it than you noght have the same effects, but either way I which you the best!!
